Zoro's history - New Edition

I toured and recorded with the New Edition from 1984-1987. The time I spent working with them will always remain some of my fondest memories of the era.

" They’d tried out several guys when I came along" Zoro says. Playing with the New Edition is not like other groups. Their show requires a hard-hitting drummer. Their act has a lot of break-downs and they use the drums to punctuate many of their steps. When I auditioned, it jusnt came together naturally." One week later, Zoro was playing his first New Edition concert at Disney world in Orlando, Florida. "I’d never seen so many people in my life," he exclaims. " Mr. Telephone’ had just came out and Whoudini was the opening act. There were people as far as you could see…"
- Interview with Zoro by Steven Ivory in Blackbeat Magazine 1986
