A Tribute To a True Hero:
Maria, Maria…….I just had a mom named Maria

My mother was a true hero and woman of faith. It is from here that I derive all that I am. She was the epitome of faith, love, hope, forgiveness and passion. She had a zealous and relentless spirit and an uncanny sense of humor. She was warrior and a lioness who fought valiantly for her cubs. She was our protector; she nurtured and comforted us, and wiped away every tear of sadness. And most importantly she forgave us.

Though she has gone home to be with the Lord of hosts in heaven where she belongs. Her spirit shall live on in my life and the life of my children. How I wish you could have known her for she was something wonderful to behold. She had the greatest smile in the world and would always make you laugh. She lived a life of extreme hardship and faced incredible challenges and insurmountable pain due to an unfortunate condition of bad health throughout her life.

Despite all of that, she had more joy, enthusiasm and hope than any one I ever known. It was from her that my love and passion for music and life came from. If I have been anything of worth to anyone in the world, it because of what she instilled in me. All that is good in me came from her. It was from her that my enthusiasm, persistence, sense of humor and motivating spirit came from.

Behind every great man is a great woman they say, and all throughout my life she was that great woman!!!!!! I have been blessed with a tremendous wife who has been behind me all of our marriage, so how blessed am I to have had two significant women in my life.

As a young boy growing up fatherless I was always in search of that male figure to help me to become the man I desired to be. But I become a far better and loving man from her influence than that of another. And there was more strength and honor in my mother than in most men. She took care of her seven children and raised them all throughout her life even until the end. She did all of this without the help of a husband or any other family. My brothers and sisters never knew the love of a father and always longed for that. Maria was our mother, father, family, friend and mentor to us all, our confidant and our strength. She was our everything. So great is this loss because she is all we ever had.

But she gave to us something far greater than herself. She taught us to put our hope and trust in the Lord Jesus for all the trials and tribulations of our life. A wonderful mother to her seven children Maria was a dreamer and a visionairey with a heart of gratitude. Always grateful to anyone who would show us kindness and favor. She was a true hero and the wind beneath my wings. There is a gapping hole in my sole now that I no longer have her here with me. And we had a special bond that few have experienced in this life, closeness most have never known. But I will demonstrate the courage she gave to me by trying to effect people in the positive way that she did.

She was like a ripple in the water that worked it’s way across the seas for the good of man. For me the sun rose and set with her. She was truly one of God’s most beautiful creations. In her best days of glory she was a true beauty to behold, in other words the woman was gorgeous!

My comfort now is knowing that now she has finally received her crown of righteousness from her Lord and savior Jesus. That she is no longer in the incredible physical pain that she suffered throughout her entire life. She was the true embodiment of faith and perserverance. A woman of noble and virtuous character, she was faith and love manifest in the flesh. In her I saw Jesus, the light, and the heart of the father God.

And man, how she had fought the good fight galliantly with dignity and grace, and the first words that I am certain she heard from her maker in heaven were. “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Well done! Come and receive the mansion which I have prepared for you. Come and receive your inheritance and treasures, which you have stored here in heaven and so faithfully earned. So I must sadly say farewell to my mother.

Goodbye my love. Goodbye mommy. I thank God with all my heart that he gave you to me as my mother, because in you I found the greatest love of all! Thanks for giving me the best of your love. Yours will be the first face I seek when I get to heaven. My warmest memory of you will always be that of you dancing with me while I was a little boy and how you held me so close to you where I could feel your warmth and love. I only ask that I might have the first dance with you in heaven.

Mother, we shall meet again and together one day we will be in the arms of our true father in heaven. The one from whom all things come. You shall forever remain in my heart and in my deeds.

With all my heart, might, soul, and strength I will forever be loving and honoring you. I am forever grateful for all that you did to better my life. No greater deed is there than to lay down your life for another. Thanks for laying down yours for me my sweet, sweet, sweet wonderful mother.

Your loving and faithful son,

Z
